Sean Martin West
Music should make you feel more in tune with your emotions and less alone in this chaotic world. Sean Martin West strives to achieve this with vivid, lyric driven music. The Portland, OR based singer, songwriter, and producer graduated from Berklee College of Music where he was immersed in a tradition of focused music analysis. With influences deep and varied, he blends genres to create something new, yet familiar.
In 2023, West released a series of 6 self produced singles, each with its own sound and purpose. This series started as a covid lockdown project and turned into years of perfectionistic crafting. The resulting music has rich layers of sounds, and a wide variety of genres including Folk, Blues, Country, Singer Songwriter, and Indie.
In the last year, West has recorded his debut album, A day That’s Not the Same, as well as an accompanying EP, Old-Growth Forest. The project put a heavy emphasis on live performance, with the entire band tracking in the same room. West chose to record to analog tape, more for the workflow than the sound. The limitations of the format required quick decision making, and significantly less editing than previous releases. The recordings have productive imperfections that make the listener feel like they’re standing in the front row at a concert. Singles from the album are being released once a month, with the full record coming out on November 6th.
Shiloh Mae
Shiloh Mae is a Portland singer-songwriter who is nothing if not overly sincere. Her debut 2022 EP with singles from her next body of work. Her most recent track, a twangy little number called Somebody’s Story, captures what it feels like to be perceived by near strangers, always wondering what role you play in their memory. Her influences range from 70’s folk classics, to 90s soft rock, to the indie pop of today. Fans of Lizzy McAlpine, Maggie Rogers, and Kacey Musgraves will love her lyric-centric, melody forward songs, with vocals many liken to the Cranberries.
Brian McClintic
Brian McClintic draws from early mid century Appalachian music and Delta blues, weaving nature-centric surrealism into sort of a nomad folk exploration of his Celtic and Arabic ancestry.
