Kathryn Claire & The Whylands | Third Tuesday Song Exchange with

7:30pm | $12 Advance ($15 at the door)

The Third Tuesday Song Exchange is a monthly show with Kathryn Claire and her band The Whylands.  Each month, Kathryn invites a musician to be a guest and perform the opening set.  Since most of the guests are people Kathryn has collaborated with, she will sit in during the opener.  This is an opportunity for the musical guest to perform solo (or as a duo with Kathryn) in an intimate setting and without their band.  It is a chance to try new things.  To experiment.  To exchange music.  After the opener, Kathryn Claire and The Whylands will play a full set and invite the guest to join them on several songs or the whole set.  The evening is intended to build community among artists, and to create an environment where artists can be experimental, curious and creative.

Rebecca Sanborn Bio:

Rebecca Sanborn began writing songs at the age of six. She studied at the Contemporary Music Program at The College of Santa Fe, in New Mexico. Upon returning home to the Northwest, Rebecca met her husband and musical partner, drummer Ji Tanzer. They are both members of the adventurous jazz quintet, Blue Cranes, and the art pop trio, Swansea. Rebecca also plays in Portland’s veteran folk group Loch Lomond, and the all-female synth trio, Eccoh Eccoh Eccoh with Kyleen King (Brandi Carlile) and Jenny Conlee-Drizos (The Decemberists). Rebecca was awarded a RACC grant to record her song cycle, “Shadow Work”, with the Portland Jazz Composers’ Ensemble, which will be coming out on the PJCE label in early 2026. When she is not performing or writing, she can be found riding after her bicycle-obsessed seven-year-old daughter, Nadia.
