The Lineup:
The Collaborators
Chervona
Mikey Dub:
Dan Duval Dub Orkestra
DJ Boo-Hoy
The Collaborators are your favorite neighborhood dub reggae band. Grounded by Jason Garcia’s solid drum grooves and driven by a five piece horn section, the collaborators bring you original instrumental compositions inspired by classic Jamaican ska, dub, rocksteady and reggae.
At this show we honor the Upsetter’s contribution to the sonic world and are excited to perform a whole cover set of ONLY Lee “Scratch” Perry produced songs. This will take us on a journey through the music of Bob Marley, Max Romeo, the Heptones, The Upsetters, Junior Murvin and of course Scratch himself, throughout his storied career.
Dub Orquestra became inevitable after hosting a jazz session with Jamaican grooves.
A lifelong reggae fan, guitarist Dan Duval fell deep into the rabbit hole of Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, and other brilliant music from or related to the Jamaican Diaspora. The story of this music travels from Kingston to London and, eventually, all over the globe. In Dub Orquestra, Duval hosts sessions with his friends of various backgrounds, from the jazz, avante-garde, jamband, funk, and traditional reggae and ska communities. A sort of cross cultural pollination is happening in Dub Orquestra that you will not see in any other band.
Mikey Dub brings the legendary “Black Ark” energy into the modern era, featuring his heavy-hitting collaboration with Debbie Defire “ThankYou: Dubophonic Records—the voice behind the 1978 Lee “Scratch” Perry classic “Traveling.” His live set is real-time dub mixing, blending roots reggae foundations inna Live Dub Mix. He will be incorporating his neuw tunes with Carlton Livingston, Young Shanty, Delton Screechy, Jah93, and Prince Alla into bass heavy dub mixes.
Chervona presents a special set dedicated to the birthday of the legendary Lee “Scratch” Perry. Get ready for a sonic collision of the Balkan mountains and the Kingston streets.
Though they are masters of the “Portland Polka” scene, Chervona has always held Dub and Ska at the core of their musical DNA. Expect deep basslines, hypnotic grooves, and brass-heavy Jamaican riddims filtered through an Eastern European lens. This isn’t just a party; it’s a high-energy “Upsetting” experience that pays homage to the roots of the groove.
DJ Boo-Hoy: Bringing a curated selection of rare tunes and heavy plates found during his annual musical pilgrimage to the homeland. Expect authentic sounds straight from the source: Jamaica and the legendary Kingston Dub Club.
